Our Rector

The Rector of St. Stephen's is the Reverend Jo P. Popham. She was called to serve in 2016 to serve as our chief priest and pastor. She believes in accessibility for all people.

She presides at the sacramental services of the church, but encourages the leadership of all people to live into their callings to serve the church and community. Her door is always open (except when it is closed...). So, please, feel free to contact her for an appointment or simply drop by the office.

Jo is a native of Louisiana and married her best friend Jim Popham in 1986. They have five grown children, Stacy, Sara, Troy, Matthew, and Phillip, five grandchildren, and a Scottish Terrier. Their home is in Brewton, Alabama.

Prior to her call to ordained ministry, Jo worked in the Washington, DC, legal departments of CBS and the Motion Picture Association of America. Jo has served youth of all ages in the church and on international mission trips and is excited to be working in the diocese of the Central Gulf Coast.

Jo and Jim both graduated from Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest (now named Seminary of the Southwest) in 2005. The Reverend James J. Popham now is the Vicar of the West Florida Mission churches, St. Cyprians in Pensacola, St. Agatha's in DeFuniak Springs, and Church of the Epiphany in Crestview.
